PMEA State Update – August 3, 2020

While we are all looking to what the next couple of months will bring in the current COVID world in which we live, the PMEA Board has made the difficult decision to move the spring annual conference to a virtual setting. The decision has been made given the current climate and numerous accommodations that would need to be made for an in-person event (temperature checks for all attendees, fewer sessions spaced out with time for cleaning, smaller exhibit hall with no food/beverage or items distributed, etc.). Making this decision now will allow ample time to plan a virtual event with the same high caliber of professional development you’ve come to expect from the PMEA annual conferences.

Preliminary planning is also underway for what all of our student fest/festival experiences will look like in 2020-2021. The PMEA District Presidents & Vice Presidents Council, along with the PMEA Student Performance Events Council, are meeting this month to brainstorm options in this COVID world. We encourage you to share any thoughts you may have with your district president as soon as possible.
