Advocacy Day

Advocacy Day 2024 is March 20th. The more members we have participate in this event, the better it is for music education initiatives state-wide! You may also want to note that there are (I believe) still a few open spots for MIOSM performances by string groups (choral is filled) at the Capitol in March and that the NAMM Award deadline is right around the corner (Jan. 31)!

Please note the Arts Ed Dashboard, see the following PPT Files, is finally funded by PDE! This is an excellent resource for advocacy at the local level as the type of data this project provides is likely to speak volumes to local decision-makers. Additionally, continued funding for this resource will be dependent on the use that PDE tracks, so please check this out.

Please let me know what you need or what you would like to see from the Advocacy Council! Our next meeting will be January 28th, so please communicate anything that I can bring before the council to help you! For example,  one district is currently concerned for the overall health of their string programs, which is something that the advocacy council may be able to help support. As we aim to empower all music educators to be proactive advocates in the field of music education, this type of information from local communities will help inform our work in the coming year.

District 11 Elementary and Middle School String Fests

District 11 Elementary and Middle School String Fests will be held at Pottsgrove Area Middle School on Friday, February 23, 2024.  The snow date will be Saturday, February 24th. Will Einhorn and Kristen Hyde will be co-hosting these fests.  If your school is interested in participating, please contact Will Einhorn at WEinhorn@pgsd.org or Kristen Hyde at KristenHyde@pgsd.org  to have your name added to the fest contact list.
